Today I had my second meeting with my supervisor C, and he encouraged me to keep a journal to better keep track on my process. Being a media technology student I obviously created a blog.
Things discussed at the meeting:
- The backbone of the project should be theory of building/shaping markets and expanding them. As well as theory about social media. (K-pop is just going to be the particular case I'm going to study.)
- I should also interview expert on markets, and I got to recommendations of people from C which I'm going to contact when I'm more well-read.
- I received an earlier master thesis where I could find inspiration.
- Tip about conducting a pre-study first to better find and narrow down a perfect problem statement (I'm going to investigate this alternative by reading other thesis that have done this).
Now I'm going to focus on a literature study about markets and social media. My next deadline is going to on a thesis specification on about 2-3 pages. I have done a thesis proposal but after my meeting with C I've understood that my focus has been a bit off so I'm going to re-do it before sending it to my supervisor.
Three representatives from Hallyu.se (1) and Kpop Nonstop (2) have agreed on participating in interviews. I'm also going to conduct questionnaires and, probably, interviews with fans as well.
Further I want to have interviews with market experts, as C recommended.
Back to the literature study!
